Minimalism at its Finest

Posted: December 10, 2013 in Uncategorized

Here’s a interesting little example of a minimalistic website in action. Symbols galore and space to wander. I do not have the highest level of expertise on the what makes for the best minimalistic approach to the webpage world, but I am beginning to find a heavier interest in this design method.

What’s all the rage for the website world of today? In the process of designing my portfolio page I was began asking myself this very same question.  Living in this age of informational technology, one asks themselves a question and Google provides a plethora of answers for said question. Thus, I came across this wonderful little list of tidbits for this current fantastic year of 2013, Peruse and indulge fellow readers. Follow the white rabbit, Neo. (Yes, I know cheesy Matrix movie reference.)

You know the moments when you sit and rack your brain for some form of creative juice to progress yourself further in that current project sitting your lap as you are reading this? Well, I have come to you with a solution compliments of Mr. Jesper Lindborg for the artsy-fried brain that you are immediately experiencing at present. If that is, however, not the case then this little flicker of enjoyment will provide you with a bit of self-fulfilling entertainment. Please expand thy synapses my fellow blog readers!

Another thought also struck my brain while I was writing my last post.  One’s personal contact information is a vital necessity in this day and age.  Not just the supply of said contact info, but the efficient and quick means of providing said contact information.  In other words, fellow students I give you the business card. One of the most impressionable ways of giving someone your personal contact information with designer style.  I believe having a business card opens up many more doors than just giving someone your number.  Take a peak at this post of 80 creative business card ideas.  Click Me and See!

Folks of the Public, I have come to appreciate a design trend that came to light from the age year of 2011.  Ladies and Gentleman I give you, Parallax Scrolling Websites! According to a web post I found on the Web Designer Wall forum video game software designers use this technique to create the illusion of depth by moving multiple layers of images at different speeds.  I have provided a link to the wall post. Check it out. The 30 site examples are pretty wicked.

Check Out This Canvas Space

Oh, how shall I begin this wondrous tale that I have for ye…hmmm? Dive right in.  So there I was, with my finger tips gliding amongst the keys,  I was on a mission to search for yet another phantasm for this digital thought bubble of enjoyment.  My blog yearning for visual adventure and crying out for satisfaction.

Then, all of a sudden, the mighty Tumblr gnashed its mighty teeth into my search bar and all was still.  At that moment, my topic bled forth and I came to find the visual amusement of a young woman who creates amazing compositions on her thighs using only simple black and red sharpie pens.  The skill and precision alone are what intrigued my curiosity further. This woman I speak of is  Jody Steel.  Jody Steel is a visual arts student who came to find canvas space close at hand when she decided to start using her personal canvas space.

Each drawing that Jody creates takes about an hour to complete, but even less time to wash off.   Out of all, I’m a major fan that she chose to do a portrait of Walter White from the hit series Breaking Bad.  These portraits are so well done one could even mistake them for being actual tattoos.  Thus, I have taken the liberty of attaching a link for your viewing pleasure.
